Bluebell Railway 2010 Timetable

Our timetabled services are 100% steam-hauled


Details of 2010 Special Events, Golden Arrow Pullman Services, Lounge Car and Wealden Rambler
Our Fares, discounted Bluebell Bonus tickets, Kids for a Quid offers, and Party Bookings are also available.
Steam trains operate on the coloured dates.
The special Bluebell Bus (service 473) from East Grinstead, operates on all Service 1 days from April to October, and for some special events coloured light-green in the Timetable - details here.
Please Note: the 473 bus service is the main means of access to Kingscote station, since there is no public car parking at Kingscote - more details on the "How to get to the Bluebell Railway" page.

On uncoloured dates no trains run, but Sheffield Park Station is normally open for limited viewing and Bar and Buffet facilities except on 25 December.

Service Three
With the line closed between Horsted Keynes and Kingscote for five weeks, it gives us an opportunity to kick start the 50th Anniversary Celebrations by recreating train services over the past 50 years of the Bluebell Railway.

The Golden Arrow Pullman dining train

This is no ordinary train, with its beautifully restored coaches some dating from the 1920's on which fine food and wines are served.
The Golden Arrow Pullman operates most Saturday evenings for dinner and most Sundays for luncheon and is also available for private charter or that very special day or event. Full details available here.

Wealden Rambler / Lounge Cars

Enjoy a traditional English afternoon tea in the luxury of our new Lounge Cars. Advance booking essential and available for private charter at other times. Further details and dates of operation available here.

Santa Special services.

Santa Specials run on 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 23 and 24 December. Further details will be available in the summer.

Victorian Christmas trains run on 18th, 19th, 23rd and 24th December 2010. Booking for these is now open.

Note: the bus service does not run in connection with the Santa Specials.

Special Events on the Bluebell Railway

The year's special events include our familiar annual events such as "Branch Line Weekend", Baxter's Family Fun Weekends in June, and the enormously popular "Santa Specials", as well as the annual concert by The Yetties, a Vintage Transport event in August, and our 3-day "Giants of Steam" event. 2010 is the 50th Anniversary of our re-opening of the Bluebell Line, and we have a number of 50th Anniversary Special Events.

Special Timetables may be in operation on Special Event days, and revised fares may apply (with discount for advance booking) - Phone for details, or see Details of all these Special Events, which are provided on a separate page.

Details of timetable in use may be available on the Services for the coming week page, in the days leading up to the event, or through a special event guide, available shortly in advance by post or in person.

Observation Car Specials from Sheffield Park
Observation Car specials run with just a small vintage steam engine and our unique Observation Car, built in 1913. Seating is limited to 68 so advance booking is essential. Book early for a discount!

Spring Specials to view the springtime flora:
operate 19-23 and 26-30 April at 11.00am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm from Sheffield Park Station.

Bluebell Specials for the best view of the Bluebells in the lineside woods:
operate 4-7 May, at 12.00am and 2.00pm from Sheffield Park Station. These specials run in addition to the normal Service 2 timetable.

Autumn Tint Specials to view the autumn colours:
operate on weekdays in October, at 11.00am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm and on 1-5 November, at 11.00am and 1.00pm, from Sheffield Park Station.

Fares

2009 fares apply until new fares come in on 1st April 2010.

All Line tickets (Sheffield Park - Horsted Keynes - Kingscote and return) are valid for Unlimited travel on the day of your visit.
One Stop tickets are for half the line.

First Class fares are available, subject to availability on each day.

We have Joint ticket arrangement with the National Trust (Sheffield Park Garden).

Car Parking is free at Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes Stations. (No car parking is available at Kingscote).

Please note that Members of the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society enjoy a substantial savings on fares, in addition to other benefits. You could share those benefits, whilst helping to support the railway, by also becoming a member - details here.

Kids for a Quid - February Half Term, and weekends in November
       * All children (aged 3-15) visiting the Bluebell Railway at these times will travel for just £1
       * Valid between Saturday 13th and Friday 19th February, and weekends in November, on all timetabled service one train departures, for third-class travel.

* Bluebell Bonus tickets (giving approx 20% discount) must be purchased in advance (please telephone 01825 720800, or visit the Sales and Information Office above the Shop at Sheffield Park). These are valid for unlimited travel on the date specified at time of purchase. They must be paid for at least 8 days in advance of travel and no refund is available under any circumstances.

Bluebell Bonus tickets are not valid on Special Event days, Observation Car Specials, Santa, Victorian or Pullman trains or other catering services.
Separate arrangements apply for discounted advance-purchase tickets for special events.

Station admission tickets:
Sheffield Park, including admission to Loco shed and Museum:
     Adult: £2.00, Child: £1.00, (when no train is running, £1.00)
Horsted Keynes, including Carriage Workshop viewing gallery, and various exhibitions:
     Adult: £1.00 ( £1.50 from 1st April), Child: 50p
Kingscote: Adult: 50p, Child: free

Special fares will apply on some Special Event days. Discounts are available if these are booked in advance.
These fares may change without prior notice.

Dogs are welcome, and there is even a special ticket available for them. The upper part of the field at Horsted Keynes is a good place for them to let off steam, and information about walks in the area is available from the Ticket Offices. The only restrictions are the buffet/restaurant building and Golden Arrow Pullman Dining Train, for obvious reasons. However picnic style tables are available just outside the buffet at Sheffield Park. Guide dogs are most welcome, and travel free.

Group Travel Fares 2010

Special discounts are available for groups and parties who book in advance (Tel: 01825 720800 or e-mail: info @ bluebell-railway . co . uk ). Party tickets are valid for one return journey and are not available on certain special event or Santa days. Groups who book in advance are entitled to free tickets for one organiser and bus/coach driver (not including combined, catering or other discounted offers).

Parties of 10 or more (fare paying) passengers:
Adult: £9.00, Child (3 and under 16): £4.50
(From 1st April 2010: Adult: £9.50, Child (3 and under 16): £4.75)

School Parties, Scouts, Girl Guides etc: £6.00 Adult or Child (unchanged for 2010)

Party Rate for Joint tickets with National Trust Sheffield Park Garden:
Adult only: £14.70 ( £15.00 from 1st April until 30 Sept)

Interested in bringing a party for a School visit to the railway - projects based on the Bluebell Railway will contribute towards Key Stages 1 & 2 of the National Curriculum - more information available.
