No.992 is the fifth Stroudley coach to arrive on the Bluebell, having been part of a bungalow in West Wittering alongside a North London Railway carriage (which went to the Furness Railway Trust). Along with our Stroudley first, No.661, brake thirds No.949 and No.676, and the younger full-third No.328, it will enable us to form a prototypical 5-coach set of Stroudley coaches to run with our Stroudley Terriers "Stepney" or "Fenchurch".Sheina Foulkes' photo on the right shows a garnish rail partially stripped to reveal the coach's likely identity.
Trevor Tupper, who lived locally, provides a full set of photos covering the recovery of the carriage from "Sunnyside", The Crescent, West Wittering. The boundary between the Witterings ran down the back of the street, with the result that even some local residents thought it was in East Wittering! His photos below show the North London Railway carriage which formed the front of the property, taken back in 2000, and the Brighton coach ready to be recovered from the site in 2008.
